TRT Radyo 3 is Turkey's classical and art music channel, broadcasting both Western classical music and Turkish classical (Ottoman court) music — makam traditions alongside Mozart, Beethoven, and contemporary Turkish composers. The station uniquely bridges East and West, presenting the Ottoman court music tradition of composers like Dede Efendi and Buhurizade Mustafa Itri alongside the Turkish Five (Türk Beşleri) — Ahmed Adnan Saygun, Ulvi Cemal Erkin, Cemal Reşit Rey, Hasan Ferit Alnar, and Necil Kazım Akses — who fused Turkish folk melodies with Western classical forms. Today, pianist and composer Fazıl Say carries this tradition forward on the world stage.
